I found this 1999 query on rootsweb Tidwell query board:
"My grandfather was Vernon Tidwell , born in 1899 in arkansas or there
abouts , his mother ? name unknown, died and his father ? name took him
and his 2 sisters 2 a Catholic orphanage some where in Arkansas and left
them there ...his sisters died of TB & he ranaway & landed in Colorado.
We know he had uncles & Anuts but we have no names & only a birth date
As you can see we are new at this & not sure where to begin..we just
want to get back to our roots..any suggestions or help would be
