And this is a part of the problem.
If he was known as author of junk, as someone who don't care about
supplying usefull tools for genealogy, it would not be im****tant
that he adverstises junk genealogy. But because of his past
involvment, people will believe that his links are to reliable
sites.
But when I see that he has links to pages like this one
http://www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.fc/qx/beauregard-family-crest.htm?A=54323-224
"The story of the name Beauregard begins in the French province of
Limousin in medieval times."
"First found in Limousin, where the family has been seated from very
early times."
This is a joke. The name is not related to any area in France. It
likely appeared as a family name in a lot of places.
"In 1755, 10,000 French Acadians refused to take an oath of allegiance
to England and were de****ted. "
Historical non-sense.
" They found refuge in Louisiana. "
Historical non-sense. Less than 1/3 of Acadians made it to Louisiana.
1/3 to Quebec, 1/3 back to what was Acadia, and the rest remained in
US colonies, France, etc.
"In 1793, the remaining French in these provinces came under British
rule. "
What are they talking about ? Nothing happened in the former French
colonies in 1793...
"We have researched the Beauregard family crest in the most recognized
sources. Before an artist or craftsman can render a family crest, it
must exist. In other words the crest must have been designed and
recorded by the heralds from time immemorial."
Bogus statement. No commoners had heraldic and they are selling
fictive heraldic to them.
"Beauregard Family Crest Products"
Bogus products.
Because Brian has some credibility, he just can't promote this kind of
junk site.
He was not the only one to contribute to the genealogy on the
Internet. This is why we call this a community. One who thinks
seriously about genealogy just can't accept a known genealogy with
an im****tant contribution to promote junk genealogy.
