Franco-American Alliance

Reading through Stacy Schiff's recent book "A Great Improvisation", the =
author presented some historical facits that caught my attention; =
unfortunately, my key words used through search engines have failed to =
deliver results. Perhaps someone with a keen historical interest will =
be able direct me to the appropriate url address. =20

1. The author eludes to a gold sword with life scenes depicting =
Lafayette, presented to Lafayette himself in 1779 by Dr. Franklin. =
Which museum still holds this historical artifact?

2. A ****trait of George Wa****ngton was presented to Lafayette in 1780, =
depicting George Wa****ngton holding the Declaration of Independence =
as-well-as the Treaty of Paris. Did the Pennsylvania Gazette ever carry =
an artistic representation of this ****trait--does this ****trait still =
remain in France or elsewhere?
