tailoring

Before I start sewing with this stuff, I thought I'd ask here and see what
you all think.

I'm making two different styles of 1800's frock coats (one for my groom
and
one for my minister.) One pattern lists horsehair canvas as a interlining
for the lapels, the other just suggests to use 'canvas' if the fabric you
are using is light weight. My problem is finding 'horsehair canvas'. I
tried
looking online, but had a hard time finding anything (a mediocre picture
and
a mention of horsehair canvas used to refurbish a chair.) I've gone to all
the fabric stores AND upholstery stores in my area and they didn't have
anything. Finally, one shop, that sold quilting, upholstery and a few
specialty fabrics, had something called goathair canvas (which label said
it
was used in tailoring.)

Do any of you know if goat hair canvas will do a simliar job? The one
little
picture I saw of horsehair canvas made it look a little more sheer than
the
goathair.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks :)
Jen
