Goat hair is fine - and try tailor's suppliers rather than dress and
upholstery! You will also be able to get felt for undercollars and felt
shoulder pads from them if there are not enough scraps to build the
pads... Traditional tailors often use off cuts from the main fabric to
build pads to the customer's exact requirements, but I don't usually go
quite that far!
If you look on my web site at the Town Crier project, you will see me
sewing it in place with pad stitching. Shout if you get stuck.
