1750-60 waistcoat

by "Chris Cotterill" <ipast@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 21, 2004 at 08:56 PM

Hi, I've got to make a waistcoat for English 1750-60 period, but I have
only
managed to find a pattern for 1710-30 (Lelois?). As I understand it, as
the
century progressed, the *skirts* at the front got shorter, but retained
the
pockets. I know that the back was laced up in the lower half, but cannot
confirm the length of the *skirts* at the back. By Rev War they had
disappeared so vest ended at breeches waistband level. What I an't
decipher
is how low the back hung in mid-century. Anyone know? Apologies for
cross-posting but I need best info soonest!
