So much for the 'guarantees' that 'no items from the wreck site will EVER
be
sold'.
I remember talking with George Tulloch in the late '80's, and I remember
his
assurances to me that NONE of the recovered items would be sold privately.
Of course, he's in no position to PREVENT it now, obviously (although, the
article mentions that the items were recovered in '91. IIRC, that WASN'T
an
RMSTI expedition but the IMAX one. Still, that might let RMSTI off the
hook, but the legislation prevents ANY U.S. sales, no matter WHO recovered
them. And couldn't RMSTI make a legal move to seize the 'watches' and
anything recovered in '91 under their 'salvor in posession' status (I know
they were trying to give it up, but last I heard the judge had decided
against that. they probably aren't interested at this point in the time &
money of a protracted legal fight)?
Can't the sale of these watches be banned in at LEAST the United States
under the TITANIC legislation (assuming such a transaction was CAUGHT)?
