There's a quote in the book "A Night to Remember."  I can't remember who
was 
being quoted or the exact quote, but it was along the lines that in the
late 
19th and early 20th century an ocean crossing was similar to being in jail

with the additional chance of drowning.

Your comment just caused to think of "A cruise ****p is like a visit to 
Vegas, but with the chance of drowning."

I have a friend who travels frequently.  She's made similar comparison to 
cruise ****ps and Vegas, except that she said (in most cases) the service
on 
the cruise ****ps was much better.
