A new Titanic book has hit the market, Titanic's Last Secrets: The
Further Adventures of Shadow Divers John Chatterton and Richie Kohler"
by Brad Matsen.
Dreadful. Absolutely dreadful. Hearsay, speculation and tabloid
journalism posing as research and history.
Just by way of a single example: when referring to the engineers who
were doing the design work on the Olympic class ****ps, one of the
principals exclaims, "My God, they were engineering these ****ps with
pencils!"
No do***entation at all, not a shred. I mean ZERO! Zilch! Nada!
Just the hearsay testimony of one man and a lot of speculation based
on a couple of computer simulations. Oh, and a lot of nonsense about
expansion joints in the superstructure leading to structural failure
in the hull itself. Obviously there was as serious a lack of
technical advice as there was of do***entation....
By the way, Jim, if you're reading this, do you really believe Tommy
McClusky really has such a deep-seated grudge against H&W? The Tommy
that is ****trayed in this book is not the Tommy McClusky I knew....
All the best,
Daniel Allen Butler
