historical origin of the day-of-the-week - planet associations

by "Jakub Jaroszewski" <jakubjar@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Oct 17, 2006 at 12:53 PM

Hi. Are there any historical sources talking about the origin of making
associations between days of the week and the names of the planets?
It seems this associations were made all over the world and some relicts
of
it are still existing in the western languages (and of course in calendars

of the so-called traditional cultures) - monday <- moon day; vendredi <-
venus day; etc.
What is the origin, the historical source of it? Is it known today?
Greetings to all,
Jakub
