Some time ago I was rambling around the library and randomly started
reading a book by an 18th century Frenchman describing his experiences
with the Native Americans in the vicinity of Louisiana and northwards
therefrom. He seemed to regard them as examples of "noble savages"
and was fairly sympathetic. It was really interesting, but I forgot
what it was called and I can't find it again. Anyone know who I might
be talking about?
