branches of science

Greetings folks, this is my first time here. I have an issue that I
need help with. We often speak of the "branches" of science. Also, it
is obvious that some disciplines derive from more general disciplines.
I'm wondering if there is any sense in which, historically, the
various sciences can be represented using a branching diagram. These
tree-like diagrams are used to represent the origin of life forms.
They are also used for languages. I'm wondering if they can also be
used for the various sciences. Thanks for any help.
