Thank you. It seems this book is one that I didn't know about. (There is a
full German translation of the Dialogue published in the 1980s, actually a
re-issue of a classic 19th-century translation; I've ordered a copy of
this one, but am now doubting whether it will ever arrive.)
The book you cite sounds as if it would be of considerable interest. Alas,
I have no reading knowledge of German. But my primary interest here was
in some new material by Drake himself, which has never been published in
English: namely, revisions to the notes, a new introduction, and a new
analytical index to the book. I suppose this material is not in the book
from the DDR. But if there is any sign of such material, I'd be very
gratified to find out, and intensely interested in the details.
Thanks again, and I'd appreciate knowing of anything else that turns up
concerning this lost material.
