Well it's not rocket science. The history books always
mention "Marius and Sulla"  as Generals of a milestone battle in Roman
history.
As for the idea that CSA cause was "disgusting," I
recently attended an SCV camp meeting in Louisiana.  Definitely
not KKK stuff.  There is a salute to the battle flag (Stars & Bars)
which was the only flag in the room.  You pledge to protect the
flag per se and to honor the flag whenever possible.  This
translates into placing the flag (or the first CSA national flag which
is not offensive to certain groups) at the grave of every Confederate
veteran in the Parish on the birthday of Jefferson Davis. This task
was the "new business" of the meeting.  The guest speaker was a
local historian who talked about 30 minutes on the life of Holt
Collier, a Negro CSA  sniper  who became the greatest bear hunter
in American history after the war.  Even white hunter Teddy Roosevelt
was impressed by Collier's total bear kill which was 2000 plus.
