It would be helpful to list in what areas Roman Britain actually would
lead Europe ca. 1600, besides personal hygiene.
Roads and road construction come to mind, along with aqueducts.
Long-range communications; besides better roads, didn't Romans have a
rudimentary heliograph-like system?
Military commanders experienced at commanding several tens of
thousands of very well-trained and well-disciplined soldiers? Didn't
Watling Street involve more soldiers on either side than Poitiers?
