not only cheap for the USA, but you probably also save, what, about a 
hundred thousand Filipinos in Manila who were liberated from their lives
as 
well as Japanese occupation.

Lots of people paid a heavy price to assuage Dugout Doug's ego.

Put the USAAF and the USN submarine service in charge of the Pacific 
theater, and the USA avoids the loss of a lot of blood and treasure.
