Nixon barely lost in 1960. Would any of the other Democrats (Johnson or
Humphrey) done better than Kennedy? Johnson turned off most of the
northern liberals, and Humphrey was perceived as very radical. So the
result: NIXON wins in 1960 (less bitter, more moderate though compared to
many current Republicans he is a virtual Rockefeller Republican).
How about RFK in 1964 (if he gets far in life without being a war hero or
having his brother to help him)?
