1936

Heinrich Himmler, chief of all German police forces, divides
his forces into the Order Police (Ordnungspolizei), under the command of
Kurt Daluege,  and the Security Police (Sicherheitspolizei or Sipo)
under Reinhard Heyrich's command. (friedlaender, 195)

1943

For the first time, Jewish prisoners are gassed at the
Stutthof concentration camp near Danzig. (USHMM 1993, 37)

The Jewish Combat Organization leads a brief resistance
effort during the liquidation of the "small ghetto" in
Czestochowa in Poland. One thousand Jews are de****ted, and
four thousand are sent to several labor camps. (USHMM 1993,
37)

1944

One thousand Jews are de****ted from Fossoli and Verona to
Auschwitz. (USHMM 1994, 47)

Allied aircraft photograph the entire Auschwitz
extermination camp complex, including the town of Auschwitz
(Oswiecim), from an altitude of 30,000 feet. (Ibid.)

Clement Atlee, head of the Armistice and Post-War Committee
of the British war cabinet and later prime minister for the
Labour Party, states that any member of the German armed
forces engaging in major criminal acts should be listed as
a war criminal. Previously only Nazi Party members were to
be listed. (Ibid.)
