International law did NOT begin with the United Nations! It began with
the LEAGUE OF NATIONS. And that same League RULED (same as a UN
Security Council Resolution) in the San Remo conferences of 1920 and
1922 that Palestine is the JEWISH NATIONAL HOME, and NOT part of the
"Greater Arab Homeland," and gave all the land where the Arabs living
on it did not have a private property deed and title to the Jews for
settlement! In other words, all land not privately owned was open to
Jewish settlement, between the Mediterranean and the Jordan river.
Actually, it initially meant BOTH sides of the Jordan river, but in
1923 the British unilaterally gave Transjordan to Emir Abdullah of
Mecca to rule. Most of the land that the Arabs farmed was not private
property registered in the Ottoman land registry (the tabu).
Nonethless, the Jewish Agency was given the right to buy land from the
Arabs, as well as the right to build settlements on all state lands
and non-owned lands, such as the Negev desert, for example, all of
which was to become part of the Jewish National Home. Nobody took away
any privately owned Arab properties, which if registered was theirs to
keep. Nonetheless, the British all along tried to keep the Arabs from
selling their lands to the Jews, but the Arabs were only too eager to
sell land to the Jews at exhorbitant prices. To get a full
explanation, read the League of Nations San Remo text which can be
easily found and downloaded, and read with 15 minutes, and, if
possible, read the text book "The Land Question in Palestine,
1917-1939" by Kenneth W. Stein, which is the most authoritative text
ever written about all land issues from Ottoman empire through the
1940s, to learn IN DEPTH the complexity but total truth about the land
issue between the Arabs and Zionist Jews of Palestine. It's a tough
read, as it is very academic, but it truthfully answers alll snippets
and half truths here and there do not contribute to a true and serious
understanding of what really went on there during the pre-state era.

That slogan was only partially true. When it was popularized there
were at most 500,000 Arabs in the entire country, from the river to
the sea. The only continent in the world totally devoid of humans was
Antarctica, and if that had been given to the Jews, no doubt the
penguins would have formed a PLO, or Penguin Liberation Organization
because hardly anyone seems to believe that Jews have the right to
their own country. Thankfully, the League of Nations ruled otherwise
in 1920 and 1922.

Those statistics were not taken in the early 1880s before Jews began
their return, but only after 60 years of Jewish settlement, whose
health clinics helped bring down Arab mortality rates so that the Arab
population TREBLED from the 1890s to 1947. The fact is, that in Roman
times, Judea sup****ted a population of approximately 3 million Jews
before the destruction and exile. But under Arab rule, the land NEVER
sup****ted more than 600,000 Arabs at most UNTIL the Jews began their
return in the 1880s and brought modernity, industrialization, and most
im****tantly doctors and health clinics, all of which trebled the Arab
population and gave them the means to increase agricultural production
